Abuja | Media Report
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has strongly refuted allegations of internal division and the alleged diversion of relief funds meant for persecuted Christians in Northern Nigeria, describing the claims as false and misleading.

In a press statement issued on April 22, 2026, CAN dismissed reports suggesting a North-South split within the association, insisting that the body remains united and indivisible.

The statement, signed by CAN President, Daniel Okoh, clarified that the association has neither received nor managed any relief funds as alleged, stressing that no funds have been diverted under any circumstances.

CAN described the narrative as a deliberate attempt to misinform the public, undermine trust, and bring the Church into disrepute.

The association also expressed concern over remarks made by Isaac Omolehin, founder of Word Assembly Ministry in Ilorin, accusing him of spreading unverified claims capable of threatening national cohesion and unity within the Christian community.

It further decried the mention of prominent Christian leaders Enoch Adeboye, David Oyedepo, and William Kumuyi in what it described as a misleading context.

CAN warned that it would not tolerate the spread of falsehoods or attempts to malign the Church, issuing a firm caution to those involved to desist immediately or face possible legal action.

The association urged the public, media, and international community to rely only on verified information from its official channels.
