
Nigeria’s U-20 national football team, the Flying Eagles, are set to commence a training camp in Katsina State as part of their preparations for the upcoming Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire.
The team recently concluded a series of friendly matches against Côte d’Ivoire, securing a 2-0 victory in the first game but falling 2-0 in the second.
Head coach Aliyu Zubairu has expressed optimism about strengthening the squad by integrating foreign-based professionals, aiming to enhance the team’s competitiveness for the tournament.
The Flying Eagles are drawn into Group B, where they will face Egypt, Morocco, and South Africa. The U-20 AFCON is scheduled to take place from April 26 to May 18, 2025.
The training camp in Katsina is expected to provide the team with an environment conducive to intensive preparation, focusing on tactical drills, fitness enhancement, and team cohesion. This initiative underscores the team’s commitment to achieving success in the continental tournament.
