LONDON – Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has joined fellow foreign ministers from across the Commonwealth of Nations at the 26th Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting held at Lancaster House.

The meeting brought together ministers to deliberate on pressing global issues and strengthen diplomatic coordination ahead of the forthcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

Discussions during the high-level gathering focused on the need for stronger collective action among Commonwealth member states in addressing global challenges, including security concerns, economic resilience, and the promotion of democratic governance.

Participants emphasized the importance of cooperation and shared responsibility in promoting stability and sustainable development across the Commonwealth.

Nigeria’s participation underscored its commitment to active multilateral diplomacy and constructive engagement with international partners.

The Federal Government reiterated that Nigeria remains dedicated to advancing shared prosperity, strengthening democratic values, and supporting collaborative efforts that benefit member states of the Commonwealth.

The 26th meeting serves as a preparatory engagement ahead of the upcoming CHOGM, where leaders from Commonwealth countries are expected to deliberate on strategic issues affecting the bloc and chart pathways for stronger cooperation.

The statement was issued by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, spokesperson of Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja.
