The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially handed over four Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (TAC) volunteers to the Republic of Sierra Leone, reaffirming its commitment to regional solidarity, South-South cooperation, and African integration.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, on Sunday, the deployment represents President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of strengthening bilateral ties and advancing human capital development across the continent.

The four volunteers two professors, one PhD holder, and one master’s degree holder were carefully selected in the fields of law, medicine, and science. They will serve in various Sierra Leonean institutions, contributing to national growth through capacity building, knowledge transfer, and institutional support.

At the official handing-over ceremony held on Thursday, 16th October 2025, in Freetown, Nigeria’s Chargé d’Affaires, Ambassador Anthony John Ebipador, presented the volunteers to Sierra Leone’s Director of Education, Mr. J. Momoh, on behalf of the Nigerian Government.

Ambassador Ebipador described the deployment as a continuation of Nigeria’s historic commitment to Sierra Leone’s development and stability, noting that the TAC scheme has been a cornerstone of Nigeria’s foreign policy since its establishment in 1987.

“The deployment of these volunteers further strengthens the long-standing cooperation between our two nations,” he stated. “Nigeria remains unwavering in its support for Sierra Leone’s efforts in education, health, and institutional development.”

The Ministry expressed appreciation to the Government and people of Sierra Leone for their warm reception of the volunteers, describing the partnership as a demonstration of Africa’s shared destiny and collective prosperity.

The Technical Aid Corps (TAC) Scheme continues to serve as a symbol of Nigeria’s Pan-African commitment, fostering unity, mutual growth, and the exchange of expertise among developing nations.
