In a heartfelt show of unity and purpose, the Director-General of the National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC), Hon. Omobolanle Akinyemi-Obe, warmly received the NSCC Goodwill Ambassadors led by veteran broadcaster and National Coordinator, Olorogun Peter Igho, at the Centre’s headquarters in Abuja.
The visit underscored the unwavering commitment of the Ambassadors distinguished Nigerians who have excelled in diverse fields to champion the rights, dignity, and welfare of older persons across the country.
In her remarks, Hon. Akinyemi-Obe commended the Ambassadors for their lifelong service and continued dedication to nation-building. She emphasized that their influence and experience are invaluable assets in advancing the Centre’s mandate of ensuring inclusion, care, and social participation for senior citizens.
“The wisdom and legacy of our elders are the foundations upon which we must build a compassionate and inclusive future,” she stated. “Through the NSCC and the efforts of our Ambassadors, we are promoting a society where ageing is not a burden but a season of honour, relevance, and empowerment.”

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Olorogun Peter Igho reaffirmed the group’s resolve to collaborate with the NSCC in deepening public awareness, shaping policy dialogue, and supporting programs that uplift older Nigerians.
The Ambassadors, comprising notable professionals from media, health, education, and public service, highlighted the importance of intergenerational solidarity, urging younger Nigerians to embrace and learn from their elders.
The National Senior Citizens Centre continues to spearhead initiatives that address critical issues affecting older persons, including healthcare access, economic inclusion, and protection from neglect or abuse.
Together with the passion, visibility, and advocacy of the Goodwill Ambassadors the Centre is charting a new course for ageing in Nigeria: one where every senior citizen can age gracefully, live meaningfully, and thrive in dignity.
