The Federal Government of Nigeria has congratulated the Kingdom of Lesotho on the occasion of its Independence Anniversary.
In a goodwill message, the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, conveyed warm felicitations to his counterpart, His Excellency Lejone Mpotjoane, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations of Lesotho.
The statement, signed by Ministry spokesperson Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, emphasized Nigeria’s solidarity with the Basotho people, describing the celebration as a testament to their resilience, unity, and progress since independence.
“Since attaining independence, Lesotho has made remarkable strides in democratic governance, social development, and cultural preservation achievements that highlight the dedication of its people and leadership,” the statement noted.
Ambassador Tuggar reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties with Lesotho, anchored on mutual respect, African solidarity, and a shared vision for continental growth and stability.
He further expressed Nigeria’s readiness to strengthen cooperation in critical sectors including education, trade, governance, and regional integration under the African Union (AU) and other multilateral platforms.
“Nigeria remains confident that the enduring friendship between our two nations will continue to thrive, contributing to peace, stability, and sustainable growth across the continent,” the statement added.
