In a significant diplomatic move to bolster international military partnerships, Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has embarked on an official visit to the Ministry of Defense Headquarters of the Slovak Republic in Bratislava.
The high-level visit, a major step in deepening bilateral defence ties, saw General Musa and his delegation warmly received by his Slovak counterpart, General Daniel Zmeko, and other senior defence officials.
According to a statement issued by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, the visit commenced with a ceremonial guard of honour inspected by General Musa. This was followed by strategic bilateral talks focused on strengthening cooperation in military training, capacity building, equipment acquisition, and defence technology transfer.
Both nations also explored prospects for collaboration in defence innovation and enhancing local production capabilities.
General Musa expressed Nigeria’s appreciation for Slovakia’s continued support, reiterating the country’s commitment to fostering robust defence partnerships. He emphasized the potential for joint industrial ventures in the defence sector.
General Zmeko commended Nigeria’s leadership in regional security efforts and pledged Slovakia’s readiness to advance cooperation with Africa’s most populous nation.
This landmark visit is expected to pave the way for long-term strategic engagement between Nigeria and Slovakia in the defense arena.
