As part of activities marking its 61st anniversary, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced a nationwide Open Day event, inviting citizens to visit its bases across the country from May 1 to 15, 2025.
Themed “Come See Your Air Force,” the initiative aims to strengthen civil-military relations and give Nigerians a firsthand look at the operations, history, and personnel of their Air Force.
According to a statement signed by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, NAF Spokesperson, selected bases in Makurdi, Bauchi, Yenagoa, Kaduna, Enugu, Ikeja, Katsina, Maiduguri, Port Harcourt, Oshogbo, Minna, Abuja, Victoria Island, Yola, Benin, Kainji, Kano, and Jos will participate. Each base will announce its specific Open Day schedule.
Visitors can look forward to a variety of activities, including:
Guided tours of facilities
Close-up views of aircraft and operational platforms
Historical exhibitions featuring photo galleries and mini-museums
Interactive sessions with Air Force personnel
Documentary screenings and multimedia displays
Distribution of souvenirs
Outreach programmes in schools, featuring career talks to inspire young Nigerians
The Open Day forms part of a broader programme of events culminating in the official anniversary celebrations scheduled for May 13 to 20, 2025.
Highlighting the significance of the initiative, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, emphasized the importance of fostering public trust and engagement.
“This Open Day reflects our commitment to transparency, national unity, and pride in service. We warmly invite all Nigerians to come, see, and connect with their Air Force,” he said.
The Nigerian Air Force reiterated its dedication to building bridges with the public through openness, education, and inspiration.
