
The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has hailed the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) College Project as a bold and commendable step toward nation-building, emphasizing its potential to significantly contribute to the educational and moral development of children from military and police families.
Speaking during the groundbreaking and fundraising ceremony held in Abuja, the Minister described the initiative as a “historic milestone” and praised DEPOWA’s leadership for its foresight and unwavering commitment to the well-being of service members’ families.
“It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I join you today for this momentous event,” Badaru said. “This college project reflects the steadfast dedication of our military and police families to the advancement of our nation. DEPOWA’s visionary leadership deserves high praise for championing such a noble cause.”
The proposed DEPOWA College aims to provide quality education in a structured and disciplined environment for the children of those serving in the armed forces and police. The Minister underscored the role of education in national progress, stating that a well-educated generation raised in an atmosphere of discipline and patriotism is essential for sustaining peace, unity, and long-term prosperity in Nigeria.

Badaru reaffirmed the Ministry’s full support for the DEPOWA initiative, assuring that every effort will be made to ensure the successful and timely completion of the project.
