Protesters took to the streets of Abuja on Monday, April 7, 2025, to demand an end to what they describe as the misuse of the Cybercrime Act, worsening economic conditions, and rising insecurity across the country.
The nationwide protest, spearheaded by the Take-It-Back (TIB) Movement alongside several civil society groups, also highlighted what organizers termed a “state of emergency” in Rivers State.
Carrying placards with messages like “Stop the Repression” and “Let Us Breathe,” demonstrators gathered in the nation’s capital to voice their frustrations.
Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore was present at the rally, lending his support to the cause.
In a statement released ahead of the protest, TIB National Coordinator, Juwon Sanyaolu, said the march was necessary to challenge the government’s “growing authoritarianism” and call for urgent intervention in the face of soaring inflation and nationwide insecurity.

Something has to happen for the desired change
