The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will hold a World Press Conference and National Stakeholders’ Meeting on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, as the countdown to the 2027 General Election reaches 100 days.
The Commission said the meeting will provide an opportunity to update Nigerians and key stakeholders on preparations for the elections, including the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics and measures being put in place to safeguard the electoral process.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, is expected to address the event alongside other key stakeholders involved in the electoral process.
The Commission said the national stakeholders’ meeting is part of its commitment to transparency, proactive communication and engagement with actors across the electoral system.
Expected participants include political party leaders, security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), members of the diplomatic corps, development partners, civil society organisations, election observer groups and disability rights advocates.

Youth organisations, religious and traditional leaders, as well as media executives, are also expected to attend.
The event is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (BAT-ICC), Abuja.
Attendance is strictly by invitation, while accredited media representatives and invited guests are required to present their invitation cards or accreditation badges at security checkpoints.
INEC said the event will also be broadcast live on major national television networks and streamed through its official social media platforms.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Sunday, October 4, by Adedayo Oketola, Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser to the INEC Chairman.
