Veteran broadcast journalist Oche Otene has been honoured with the Media Personality of the Year Award by the Book Society of Nigeria.
The award recognises Otene’s more than 15 years of work in broadcasting, where he has covered news, current affairs, elections, governance and public-interest issues.
Reacting to the recognition, Otene described the honour as a reward for years of dedication and a motivation to continue improving professional standards in journalism.
“The reward of hard work is more work,” he said.
Beyond broadcasting, Otene has built a profile as a moderator and master of ceremonies, hosting conferences, public forums and professional gatherings.

He has also moderated panel discussions involving experts and stakeholders on media, governance, democracy and national development.
Otene previously received the Best Newscaster of the Year Award at the Nigerian Radio Awards.
His broadcasting career has included roles at Radio Benue, Radio One Lagos (Radio Nigeria), Channels Television Lagos, Raypower FM, Nile Radio, Fresh News, OOJ Media and Democracy Radio.
He has also presented programmes including AIT News Hour, The Electoral Process, an INEC-sponsored programme, Watching the Vote by YIAGA Africa, The Ultimate Morning Show on Raypower Abuja and Leadership Lab on Democracy Radio Abuja.
Through his work across radio, television, public events and panel discussions, Otene has remained engaged with issues surrounding elections, democracy, governance and national development.
The latest award adds to a career that has established him as a familiar voice and presenter within Nigeria’s broadcasting and media industry.
