The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commenced the rehabilitation of four transmission towers vandalised along the Afam–IPP–Elelenwo 132kV Double-Circuit Transmission Line.
TCN said the vandalism was discovered on August 6, 2026, by its lines engineers from the Port Harcourt Region.
According to the company, towers T50 to T53 were affected after members of the structures were removed and carted away by vandals.
The latest incident marks the fifth vandalism attack recorded on the same transmission line in recent times.
TCN said rehabilitation work is currently ongoing to restore the affected towers and strengthen the reliability of the transmission infrastructure.
The company also called on stakeholders and communities around transmission facilities to support efforts to prevent vandalism and protect critical electricity infrastructure.
TCN warned that repeated attacks on transmission infrastructure pose a threat to the stability and reliability of Nigeria’s national electricity grid.
The company urged all stakeholders to work together to curb the vandalism of transmission facilities and help safeguard the nation’s power infrastructure.
