The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), and the North West Development Commission (NWDC) have entered into a strategic partnership to provide digital skills training for youths across the seven states of the North-West geopolitical zone.

The partnership was reached during a high-level meeting in Abuja involving the Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida; the Director-General of NITDA, Mallam Kashifu Inuwa; and the Managing Director of the NWDC, Prof. Shehu Abdullahi Ma’aji.

Under the initiative, the three agencies will combine their resources, infrastructure and technical expertise to implement a jointly managed digital capacity-building programme aimed at equipping thousands of young people with relevant technology skills.

The NCC is expected to provide training facilities, while NITDA will contribute its technical expertise, curriculum and certification framework to support the programme.

The training will adopt an intensive learning model that combines classroom-based instruction with online learning, giving participants opportunities to develop practical digital competencies.

The initiative is also expected to improve the employability of young people across the North-West while promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and economic opportunities within the region.

The agencies said the partnership reflects their commitment to strengthening human capital development, noting that digital skills acquisition is increasingly important for unlocking the economic potential of the North-West and preparing its youthful population for opportunities in the digital economy.

The programme further aligns with the Federal Government’s broader efforts to accelerate digital inclusion, develop a technology-driven workforce and position the North-West as a hub for innovation and sustainable economic development.
