ABUJA – China has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its long-standing relationship with Nigeria as the Communist Party of China (CPC) celebrates its 105th anniversary, highlighting decades of governance reforms, economic development and growing bilateral cooperation.

Reflecting on the Party’s 105-year journey, Chinese authorities said the CPC has remained committed to improving the lives of its people through sustained economic growth, social development and institutional reforms.

According to the statement, China has built the world’s largest education and social security systems, with compulsory education enrollment approaching 100 percent, basic medical insurance covering more than 1.3 billion people and basic old-age insurance benefiting nearly one billion citizens.

The Party also attributed its continued growth and stability to strict self-governance, continuous reforms and a sustained anti-corruption campaign aimed at promoting accountability and good governance.

It further noted that the development of Xi Jinping Thought on Party Building has provided strategic guidance for advancing Chinese modernization, strengthening Party governance and supporting national rejuvenation.

China said it has also contributed to global development through initiatives including the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative and Global Civilization Initiative, describing them as practical approaches to addressing global challenges and promoting international cooperation.

Beyond domestic achievements, the statement emphasized the enduring friendship between China and Nigeria, noting that both countries have maintained strong diplomatic ties since establishing relations in 1971.

China described Nigeria as a trusted partner, stating that political trust has continued to deepen while cooperation has expanded across infrastructure, trade, governance, education and other strategic sectors.

It added that both countries have consistently respected each other’s core interests and strengthened collaboration through platforms such as the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), while aligning China’s development plans with Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Looking ahead, China expressed its readiness to deepen cooperation with Nigeria through increased exchanges on governance, stronger political dialogue and expanded practical partnerships that deliver tangible benefits to citizens of both countries.

The statement said both nations would continue working together to advance the China-Nigeria Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, promote shared prosperity across Africa and contribute to global peace, development and mutual cooperation.
