A pro-government group, Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV), has commended President Bola Tinubu over what it described as significant gains recorded in Nigeria’s fight against terrorism and other violent crimes.
In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, the group said the elimination of more than 13,000 terrorists and violent criminals within the past year demonstrates the administration’s commitment to restoring security across the country.
According to the group, President Tinubu recently disclosed that sustained military operations have led to an 81 per cent reduction in terrorism-related deaths since 2023.
TMV also noted that about 17,000 suspected terrorists had been arrested during the period, describing the achievement as evidence of improved military operations backed by better funding, equipment and intelligence.
The group attributed the progress to enhanced collaboration between Nigerian security agencies and international partners, as well as the increased deployment of technology and intelligence gathering in military operations.
It further cited the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, as confirming that more than 124,000 terrorists, fighters and their family members had surrendered under the Operation Safe Corridor programme since 2023.
According to TMV, the Federal Government’s policy of offering willing insurgents an opportunity to surrender while intensifying military action against those who refuse has contributed to the recorded successes.
The group also praised the Nigerian Army for rescuing 337 kidnapped victims and recovering 4,105 rustled cattle during operations in Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba states.
It added that the achievements of Operation Whirl Stroke and other military formations were made possible through strategic leadership, improved coordination and sustained government support.
TMV maintained that the administration’s renewed investment in security, intelligence gathering and military operations continues to strengthen Nigeria’s fight against terrorism and violent crimes.
