A prominent civic group, the League of Bauchi Professionals, has thrown its weight behind the governorship ambition of Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, describing him as the candidate best equipped to drive progress in Bauchi State.

In a statement signed by its Secretary, Ibrahim Yusuf, the group said Tuggar’s leadership qualities, global exposure, and commitment to public service position him as a strong contender capable of unlocking the state’s vast potential.
The endorsement follows Tuggar’s recent declaration and homecoming event in Bauchi, which the League described as successful and inspiring.

According to the group, Bauchi requires leadership rooted in empathy, inclusivity, and a clear vision for development.

“Bauchi needs leadership that motivates through action and example leadership grounded in empathy and inclusivity. Ambassador Tuggar represents the kind of leader capable of helping the people shape their collective destiny,” the statement noted.

The League urged supporters not to relent but to intensify grassroots mobilization efforts ahead of the elections, emphasizing the need for governance anchored on service, integrity, and measurable progress.

Highlighting Tuggar’s track record, the group said his experience in public service reflects a consistent commitment to security, economic growth, and citizens’ welfare. It added that his tenure as Nigeria’s Foreign Minister demonstrated a strong sense of accountability and dedication to national service.

The statement also stressed the urgent need for fiscal discipline in Bauchi, calling for prudent financial management, elimination of waste, and transparency in public spending.

“Bauchi’s resources must work for the many, not the few. Tuggar has the vision to attract genuine investment and implement sustainable economic solutions,” the group stated.
On security and development, the League underscored the importance of ensuring safe access to farmlands, free movement for traders, and a secure environment for education.

It further called for inclusive governance, insisting that all wards across the state’s 20 Local Government Areas must be actively involved in decision-making and resource allocation.

Describing Tuggar as a seasoned statesman and a proud son of Gamawa, the group said his blend of local understanding and international experience gives him a unique advantage.

The League also raised concerns about equitable power distribution, noting that some zones in the state have yet to produce a governor since the return to democracy in 1999.

Reaffirming its endorsement, the group concluded that Bauchi’s future depends on principled and forward-thinking leadership capable of delivering practical and sustainable solutions.
