The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commenced its annual preventive maintenance of two 30MVA 132/33kV power transformers at the Sagamu Transmission Substation in Ogun State.

The maintenance exercise began on Thursday, September 3, 2026, and will continue on Friday, September 4, with the work scheduled to run for seven hours each day, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

According to TCN, its maintenance crew is carrying out routine checks on the T1 and T2 power transformers as part of efforts to ensure optimal performance, reliability and stability of the transmission equipment.

The company said the exercise has affected the ability of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) to off-take electricity from the T1 30MVA transformer, resulting in an impact on electricity supply to consumers in REAL and Sagamu.

TCN further disclosed that customers supplied through the T2 30MVA transformer will also be affected on Friday during the maintenance period.

Areas and facilities expected to experience the impact include CEPLASS, NNPC/Ogijo, Metafrique and Babcock.

The transmission company explained that the temporary disruption is necessary to allow its engineers to conduct scheduled preventive checks and maintain the transformers in good operating condition.

TCN apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience caused by the maintenance exercise.

The notice was signed by the Management of the Transmission Company of Nigeria on September 3, 2026.
