Residents of Karu, Nyanya, Mararaba and several neighbouring communities are experiencing power supply disruption following a fault on the Apo–Karu 132kV transmission line.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) said the line tripped at 5:31 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2026, cutting power supply to the Karu Transmission Substation.
According to a notice issued by TCN on Tuesday, October 13, engineers inspected the affected line and discovered a cut jumper on the yellow phase at Tower T2.
The company said its maintenance crew was scheduled to carry out urgent repairs on Tuesday, October 13, to restore the transmission line to service.
The fault has affected the ability of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to supply electricity to customers in Karu, Nyanya, Kugbo, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Orozo, Karshi, Mararaba and adjoining areas.
TCN apologised to affected electricity consumers for the inconvenience caused by the disruption.
Residents in the affected communities are awaiting the completion of repairs and restoration of electricity supply.
