ABUJA — The Tinubu Media Support Group (TMSG) has described the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja’s commendation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the government’s response to the Oyo abduction incident as a sign of renewed public confidence in the administration’s fight against terrorism.

TMSG said the development also reflected what it described as improved actionable intelligence, stronger inter-agency coordination and a more focused counter-terrorism strategy under the Tinubu administration.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Emeka Nwankpa, and Secretary, Dapo Okubanjo, the group said the President’s leadership was demonstrated in the successful rescue of the abducted schoolchildren and their teachers.

According to TMSG, Oba Ladoja, who recently led traditional rulers from Oyo State on a courtesy and appreciation visit to the President, commended Tinubu for refusing to accept the terrorists’ demand for the release of detained leaders in exchange for the abducted victims.

The group said the Olubadan’s remarks were significant because they highlighted the importance of inter-agency coordination in addressing terrorism and insecurity.

TMSG said the development had generated a positive response among Nigerians, with many citizens expressing relief and renewed confidence in the government’s efforts to tackle insecurity.

“For us, Oba Ladoja’s remarks are indicative of the overwhelming opinions of many Nigerians irrespective of region or religion on the feat, with a clamour for its replication across the country,” the group said.

It also commended the speed with which terrorism suspects, including alleged Ansaru commanders, were being brought before the courts for prosecution.

TMSG said some suspects had pleaded guilty and received judicial decisions, describing the pace of such proceedings as significant in the administration of criminal justice.

The group maintained that the prosecution of terrorism suspects should continue within the framework of due process and the rule of law.

It urged the Tinubu administration to sustain what it described as an improved and focused counter-terrorism strategy, arguing that recent developments had strengthened the narrative around Nigeria’s fight against insecurity.

TMSG also referenced a recent message of commendation it attributed to United States President Donald Trump regarding Tinubu’s efforts to combat terrorism and improve security in Nigeria.

According to the group, the recognition further demonstrated growing international attention to Nigeria’s security efforts.

The organisation urged security agencies and the Federal Government to sustain inter-agency collaboration, intelligence gathering and decisive action against terrorism and other forms of violent crime.

It said continued efforts to secure communities and protect citizens would be critical to consolidating public confidence in the government’s counter-terrorism campaign.
