The Federal Government of Nigeria has condemned a reported Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said killed 12 civilians and injured more than 300 others.

In a press statement issued on Sunday, October 11, 2026, Nigeria described the attack, which reportedly occurred on Saturday, October 10, as a dangerous escalation that threatens civilian safety, violates Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and undermines efforts to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East.

The government called on all parties to respect international law, exercise restraint and avoid further actions that could escalate tensions, endanger civilians or damage critical infrastructure.

Nigeria also expressed solidarity with the government and people of Saudi Arabia, extending condolences to families who lost loved ones and wishing those injured a speedy and full recovery.

The ministry stressed the importance of respecting Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while upholding international obligations to protect civilians and safeguard critical infrastructure.

Nigeria further commended Saudi Arabia’s emergency response following the incident, acknowledging the kingdom’s efforts to protect its citizens and maintain security.

Reaffirming its commitment to international peace and security, the Federal Government said it supports diplomatic initiatives and constructive dialogue aimed at reducing tensions, protecting civilian lives and restoring regional stability.

The statement was signed by Oluwafemi Adeniyi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja.
