The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has hosted a delegation from Burundi’s Senior Command and Staff College as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations, regional cooperation, and diplomatic engagement.

The delegation, currently on a study tour to Nigeria, was received on Wednesday at the Ministry in Abuja.

Welcoming the visitors on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, the Director of Policy, Research and Strategy, Musa Sani Nuhu, reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to African solidarity, regional integration, and multilateral diplomacy.

He emphasized Nigeria’s leading role in promoting peace, security, and economic development across the continent, noting that the country continues to drive key regional initiatives.

The engagement provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on diplomacy, regional security, and cross-border collaboration.

Discussions also highlighted Nigeria’s active involvement in ECOWAS and its contributions to joint security efforts, including the Multinational Joint Task Force combating terrorism in the region.

Speaking on behalf of the visiting team, the Commandant of the Burundi Senior Command and Staff College expressed appreciation for the warm reception and commended Nigeria’s leadership in regional affairs.

He noted that the insights gained from the visit would enhance strategic capacity and strengthen international partnerships among participants.
The visit also featured a cultural exchange session, during which the Burundi delegation presented symbolic gifts reflecting their heritage and goodwill.

The Ministry described the engagement as a valuable platform for deepening bilateral relations and fostering mutual understanding between Nigeria and Burundi.
