The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration to combat growing cybersecurity threats and protect Nigeria’s critical digital infrastructure.

The renewed partnership was highlighted during a strategic visit by the Commander of the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command, Major General E.S. Mustapha, who led a delegation to the NCC headquarters in Abuja.

The engagement provided both institutions with an opportunity to deepen cooperation, exchange knowledge on emerging cyber threats, and identify new areas of collaboration aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s cybersecurity architecture.

During the meeting, officials of the NCC and the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command discussed the evolving cyber threat landscape, the increasing need to secure Nigeria’s communications infrastructure, and the importance of coordinated institutional efforts to address cyber risks capable of affecting national security and the country’s digital economy.

The discussions also focused on intelligence sharing, capacity building, and coordinated responses to cyber incidents as key strategies for strengthening the resilience of Nigeria’s telecommunications and information technology infrastructure.

Representing the NCC, the Head of the Information Technology Department, Mrs. Nkiru L. Ebenmelu, received the military delegation alongside other Commission officials.

She reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to building strategic partnerships that will promote a secure, resilient, and trusted digital environment for Nigerians.

Both organisations agreed that the increasing sophistication of cyber threats demands stronger collaboration among government institutions, security agencies, and operators of critical national infrastructure to safeguard Nigeria’s communications networks and digital assets.

They further noted that sustained cooperation, knowledge sharing, and joint initiatives would strengthen the country’s cybersecurity framework and improve national resilience against emerging digital threats.

The meeting also underscored the growing importance of cybersecurity as a critical pillar for national security, economic growth, and public confidence in Nigeria’s rapidly expanding digital economy.
