The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that its recent air interdiction missions in the Sambisa Forest axis of Borno State resulted in the neutralisation of several Boko Haram fighters and the destruction of key terrorist facilities.

In a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Ehimen Ejodame, the Air Force said the operation targeted insurgent strongholds and logistics bases used by terrorists operating in the region.

According to the statement, the precision airstrikes were carried out on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, following credible Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) reports that identified active terrorist enclaves.

NAF aircraft conducted coordinated strikes on hideouts located in Biramiri within the Gezuwa general area of Borno State, destroying structures used for logistics and operational planning.

The Air Force stated that several fighters were neutralised in the strikes, significantly degrading the operational capability of the terrorist group identified as Boko Haram.

It added that sustained air operations have continued to create disruption, fear, and disarray among remaining insurgent elements within the Sambisa axis.

The statement further noted that intelligence assessments indicate growing pressure on the terrorists, as repeated bombardments limit their movement and access to safe havens.

The Air Force reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining joint operations with ground troops under Operation HADIN KAI and other security agencies to maintain pressure on terrorist networks in the North-East.

NAF said the ongoing coordinated operations are aimed at restoring peace, enhancing security, and protecting civilians across affected communities.
