The Labour Party has announced plans to hold a crucial National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on June 11, 2026, as the party moves to formally ratify the outcome of its recently concluded nationwide primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Eluma Asogwa, the NEC meeting will bring together statutory party members, candidates who emerged from the primaries, party organs, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), members of the media, and other stakeholders.
According to the party, the meeting is being convened in line with Article 28 of the Labour Party Constitution 2026 and is expected to approve the final list of candidates for submission to INEC in compliance with the Electoral Act.
The party also disclosed that Certificates of Return would be presented to successful candidates for the offices of President, Governor, Senate, and House of Representatives immediately after the ratification process.
Labour Party described the meeting as a major step in its preparations for the 2027 elections, especially coming after its recent national convention and the emergence of candidates across the country.
Party officials say the NEC session will also help strengthen mobilisation efforts and consolidate internal structures ahead of what is expected to be a highly competitive election season.
The announcement signals the party’s next phase in positioning itself for the 2027 political battle as Nigerians begin to watch how major political parties prepare for the polls.
