Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain, His Excellency Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, PhD, has stepped up efforts to attract Spanish investment into Nigeria’s blue economy following his participation in the opening ceremony of CONXEMAR 2026 in Vigo, Galicia, Spain.
The 27th International Frozen Seafood Exhibition was held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at the IFEVI Exhibition Centre in Vigo. The event is one of the world’s leading trade fairs dedicated to the frozen seafood industry.
The opening ceremony brought together prominent Spanish and international stakeholders, including the President of the Xunta de Galicia, senior representatives of the Spanish Government, the President of CONXEMAR, the Mayor of Vigo, members of the diplomatic corps, government officials, business leaders and representatives of the fisheries and aquaculture sectors.
During the exhibition, Ambassador Ikpeazu also held engagements with CONXEMAR officials and representatives of companies operating in packaging, marine services, fisheries and related industries.

The discussions focused on opportunities for stronger economic cooperation between Nigeria and Spain, particularly in areas connected to fisheries, aquaculture, marine services and other components of the blue economy.
The Embassy said the engagements form part of its continuing efforts to promote Nigeria as an investment destination and create opportunities for Spanish businesses to explore the country’s growing blue economy sector.
The participation also provided an opportunity to showcase Nigeria’s potential in fisheries and related maritime industries while strengthening links between Nigerian stakeholders and international businesses.
With Spain’s strong presence in the global seafood and fisheries value chain, engagements such as CONXEMAR could provide opportunities for Nigeria to attract investment, technical partnerships and expertise that can support the development of its marine and fisheries sectors.
