The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has visited victims of the recent Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosions in Maiduguri, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security response and reassure affected communities.

During the visit, the IGP met with injured victims receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, where he expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with those impacted by the attacks.

He also proceeded to the scene of the explosion at the Maiduguri Monday Market for an on-the-spot assessment of the incident, evaluating the scale of damage and operational response.

According to a statement by Anthony Okon Placid, the Force Public Relations Officer, the IGP further visited the Borno State Government House and the State Police Command Headquarters as part of high-level engagements aimed at reviewing existing security architecture.

While commiserating with victims and families of the deceased, IGP Disu reassured residents of the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to bringing perpetrators to justice and preventing future attacks.

He emphasized that security has been significantly reinforced across Maiduguri and surrounding areas, with increased deployment of personnel, enhanced surveillance operations, and coordinated joint security efforts to safeguard lives and property.
