The family of former Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, has expressed profound gratitude to Nigerians, political leaders, traditional rulers, friends and associates who stood by the family following his death and throughout his funeral rites.

In a statement signed by Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Idris, Ochada Onu-Ife and Wazirin Jakadan Sokoto, on behalf of the family, the family thanked everyone who offered prayers, condolences, visits and other forms of support during the period of mourning.

The family expressed particular appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his moral support and condolences, as well as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former colleagues and fellow governors of the late governor, members of the National Assembly, national leaders and other dignitaries who mourned with the family.

The family also acknowledged the support of the Kogi State Government, particularly Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his leadership, presence and assistance throughout the funeral arrangements.

It also appreciated former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, former Governor Idris Wada, Deputy Governor Joel Salifu Oyibo, members of the Kogi State Executive Council and other government officials for honouring the late Ibrahim Idris.

The family extended its gratitude to traditional institutions, including the Attah Igala, His Royal Majesty Matthew Alaji Opaluwa Oguche Akpa II, and the Ojogba of Ife and Chairman of Omala Local Government Traditional Council, Chief Boniface Musa, for their support and fatherly roles during the funeral process.

A special appreciation was also reserved for Hajia Aisha Ibrahim Idris, the late governor’s wife, for her devotion, support and companionship throughout their life together, particularly during his final years.

The family further thanked the people of the Igala Kingdom, Kogi State and Nigerians across the country who visited, attended the burial, offered prayers, sent messages of condolence or supported the family in various ways.

Members of the Ibro political family, traditional and religious leaders, relatives, friends, associates and colleagues were also acknowledged for standing with the family throughout the mourning period.

“To everyone who travelled from far and near and contributed to giving our father a befitting final farewell, we remain deeply grateful,” the family said.

The family noted that while it may not be possible to acknowledge everyone individually, the kindness, prayers and support received had provided comfort and strength during a difficult period.

The statement concluded with prayers for blessings upon everyone who supported the family and for the late Ibrahim Idris to be granted eternal rest.
