The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has recorded a major safety milestone under its ongoing enforcement initiative, Operation Safe Kugbo, with zero road traffic crashes involving articulated vehicles during restricted hours.

The operation, which commenced on March 19, 2026, has led to the restriction of over 300 articulated vehicles and trucks from plying the busy Kugbo outbound corridor during peak periods.

Initiated by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, the exercise is designed to reduce road traffic crashes in line with the National Road Traffic Regulations (NRTR) and the FCT Traffic Regulations. It also supports the Corps’ 2026 strategic goal of reducing road fatalities nationwide.

On the second day of enforcement, the Unit Commander of RS7.13 Nyanya, WF Luka, led a coordinated operation that restricted 96 trucks during peak hours, contributing to the cumulative figure of over 300 vehicles.

FRSC noted that the success of the operation reflects high compliance among motorists and underscores the effectiveness of proactive traffic control measures. The deployment of personnel, logistics support, and real-time traffic monitoring also played a key role in ensuring smoother traffic flow along the corridor.

The Corps emphasized that the restriction is not intended to punish drivers but to safeguard lives and property, particularly during periods of heavy traffic when risks are heightened.

Motorists, fleet operators, and truck drivers have been urged to comply fully with the directive, as FRSC reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the initiative and extending similar safety measures to other critical routes within the Federal Capital Territory and across the country.
