ABUJA — Veteran media professional and women’s advocate, Evelyn Onyilo, has been officially inducted into the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), 30 years after earning her degree in Mass Communication marking a powerful milestone defined by resilience, persistence, and lifelong learning.

The induction has been widely celebrated, particularly by members of the Initiative for Women’s Accelerated Development in Africa, where Onyilo serves as Founder and President.

The group described the achievement as both “long overdue” and deeply inspiring, applauding her unwavering commitment to personal and professional growth.

Speaking after the ceremony, an emotional Onyilo expressed gratitude and encouraged others to pursue continuous self-improvement regardless of time.

“I give glory to God I finally did it. It is never too late to seek knowledge or improve yourself. I’m grateful to everyone who encouraged me along the way,” she said.

Onyilo’s career spans decades of impact in Nigeria’s media landscape. She spent 22 years with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), earning recognition for professionalism and credibility. She also served as President of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, where she championed gender inclusion and the advancement of women in journalism.

Currently, she is the publisher of Phenomenal People Magazine, continuing her legacy of storytelling and amplifying voices across sectors.

Beyond journalism, Onyilo leads INWOAD, a platform dedicated to promoting gender equality, women’s empowerment, and inclusive development across Africa. She is also a committed Rotarian, known for her humanitarian service.

In a joint statement signed by National Coordinator Lydia Samson and Public Relations Officer Mina Daniels, INWOAD described Onyilo as “a beacon of excellence and ethical leadership,” noting that her achievement serves as inspiration to professionals and women nationwide.

Further highlighting her commitment to service, Onyilo was recently appointed to the APC National Convention Committee on Emergency Response an assignment that reflects her experience and dedication to national development.

Her journey stands as a powerful reminder that growth has no deadline, and that perseverance remains a key driver of success.
