The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.

He congratulated Christians across Nigeria and in the diaspora, urging them to reflect on the values of sacrifice, love, forgiveness, and unity which Easter represents through the teachings of Jesus Christ.

The Minister called on Nigerians to embrace tolerance and peaceful coexistence as essential elements for national unity and development.
He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing policies that promote economic growth, national renewal, and shared prosperity.

In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, Nigerians were wished a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration.
