📍Abuja | Media Report
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has presented welfare cheques to the families and next of kin of 79 police officers who lost their lives in active service.

The presentation, held at the FCT Police Command Headquarters in Garki II, Abuja, formed part of activities marking the 2026 National Police Day.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, led the ceremony, where beneficiaries received cheques under the Group Life Assurance, Group Personal Accident, and Family Welfare Support schemes.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, described the initiative as a reflection of the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel and the families of officers who died in the line of duty.

She noted that the gesture aligns with activities commemorating the 2026 National Police Day and highlights the welfare-driven leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

Speaking at the event, CP Sanusi extended condolences to the families, assuring them of the Force’s continued support. He emphasized that the sacrifices of the fallen officers would always be remembered and honoured.

The FCT Police Command stated that the initiative underscores its commitment to recognising officers who paid the ultimate price while ensuring that their families receive meaningful support.

The ceremony was one of several events held across the country to commemorate the 2026 National Police Day.
