Human rights activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has condemned the killing of a member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Enugu State, calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Inspector-General of Police to ensure a thorough investigation.
Adeyanju described political intolerance as a threat to Nigeria’s democracy, warning that violence against people because of their political affiliations undermines fundamental rights and freedoms.
He urged the Federal Government and the police to identify those responsible for the killing and ensure they are brought to justice.
According to the activist, no Nigerian should lose their life because of their political beliefs or party membership.

He stressed that political disagreements must be resolved peacefully rather than through violence, warning that intolerance could weaken democratic values and citizens’ freedom to participate in politics.
“Political differences must never be settled with bullets,” Adeyanju said.
He reiterated the need for the authorities to act swiftly to address the incident and uphold the rule of law.
