ABUJA – The Association of Corporate Online Editors has called on the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue students and teachers abducted in recent attacks on schools in Oyo State and Borno State, as well as other victims of terrorism and banditry across the country.

In a statement issued by its Chairman, Sola Akingboye, the association expressed solidarity with the families, teachers and management of the affected schools in Oriire Local Government Area and Government Day Secondary School, Lassa.

ACOE described the attacks on schools as a grave threat to Nigeria’s future, stressing that children should be able to pursue education without fear of violence or abduction.

The association said the prolonged uncertainty facing affected families has caused immense emotional and psychological distress, adding that no parent should have to endure the pain of sending a child to school only to be left without answers.

It urged the Federal Government to deploy every available security resource to secure the safe return of the abducted students, teachers and other captives, while calling for strengthened intelligence, surveillance and rescue operations.

ACOE also appealed to security agencies to act swiftly to restore public confidence in the safety of schools and reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for justice, transparency and the protection of lives through responsible journalism.

The association extended its prayers to all victims of terrorism and banditry nationwide and called for sustained efforts to end attacks on educational institutions across Nigeria.
