APC Denies ADC Allegation of Coercing Civil Servants in Ongoing E-Registration Exercise

Abuja, Feb. 2, 2026 — The All Progressives Congress (APC) has refuted claims by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that civil servants are being pressured to take part in its ongoing electronic membership registration, describing the allegation as unfounded and misleading.

In a statement issued on Sunday, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the party’s e-registration exercise is strictly voluntary and open to Nigerians who wish to participate, stressing that no form of coercion is involved.
Morka accused the ADC of attempting to discredit the initiative through what he called misinformation, including the alleged circulation of a fake APC membership slip purportedly linked to a terrorist suspect.

According to the APC, the digital registration drive has recorded significant participation nationwide, prompting the party to extend the initial deadline from January 31 to February 8, 2026, in response to growing interest.

The party attributed the increased turnout to public support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that the digitisation of its membership register is intended to strengthen internal democracy, improve data integrity, and modernise party administration.

The APC had launched the electronic membership registration and revalidation exercise in January as part of broader reforms to replace its largely manual membership system. The platform allows members and prospective members to register or update their details electronically, a move party officials say will enhance transparency, reduce duplication, and improve coordination ahead of future congresses and elections.

Opposition parties, including the ADC, have expressed concerns over the process, alleging possible misuse of state influence. However, the APC has maintained that participation in the exercise is voluntary and not tied to employment status or access to public services.

While the ADC continues to question the exercise, the APC said it remains focused on expanding its membership base and advancing digital reforms within the party’s organisational framework.

The ADC had not responded to the APC’s latest rebuttal as of the time this report was filed.
