The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has emerged as one of the top-performing government institutions in Nigeria’s 2025 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS), earning an impressive 82.65 percent rating in the assessment conducted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The evaluation, carried out between May 19 and June 20, 2025, placed NiMet 10th out of 344 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) assessed across the country, with the agency receiving a “Substantial Compliance” rating for its adherence to ethics, integrity, and governance standards.

In a related assessment, NiMet also ranked 11th out of 356 MDAs on the ACTU Effectiveness Index (AEI), scoring 82.50 percent and earning a “Very Effective” rating for the performance of its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU).

The ICPC’s evaluation focused on critical governance pillars including management culture and structure, financial management systems, administrative processes, and the operational effectiveness of Anti-Corruption and Transparency Units within MDAs. The outcome highlights the strength of NiMet’s internal compliance framework and the robustness of its institutional systems.

In a letter dated December 29, 2025, and signed by ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, the Commission commended NiMet for establishing structures and processes that promote accountability, transparency, and operational efficiency. The agency’s management was also encouraged to sustain the standards achieved to ensure consistency in performance and continuous improvement in service delivery.

NiMet reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism, transparency, and accountability in the discharge of its mandate, noting that it will continue to strengthen its institutional mechanisms in line with national integrity benchmarks.
