Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have recorded another major success in the ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the North East, neutralizing 10 insurgents and recovering a cache of arms, ammunition, and equipment during a precision night ambush along the Gamboru–Dikwa–Marte axis of Borno State.

The latest encounter followed the neutralization of over 50 terrorists in a previous operation around the Katarko axis, demonstrating the military’s sustained pressure on terrorist elements across the region.

According to a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai, the operation was executed by Sector 1 troops from the 24 Task Force Brigade, who successfully repelled a terrorist infiltration attempt from the Flatari axis into Gamboru Ngala late on October 25, 2025.

“At about 23:50 hours, troops manning a pre-established ambush position detected and engaged the hostile elements with heavy and accurate fire, forcing the insurgents to flee in disarray,” the statement said.

At first light, the troops conducted a clearance and exploitation of the area, confirming that 10 insurgents had been neutralized.
Recovered items from the operation include:

Weapons: 5 AK-47 rifles, 1 PKT machine gun, 3 locally made dane guns, and 2 fabricated pistols.

Ammunition: 5 AK-47 magazines loaded with 7.62mm rounds, large quantities of 7.62 x 54mm linked ammunition, and boxes of cartridges.

Equipment: 2 motorcycles, 2 bicycles, and 1 radio set.

Personal effects: a water flask, blanket, raincoat, charms, and other miscellaneous items.

The Military High Command commended the troops for their gallantry, vigilance, and tactical efficiency, emphasizing that the success underscores the effectiveness of ongoing counter-terrorism operations and reaffirms the commitment of OPHK to restoring peace and stability in the North East.

“The Nigerian military remains resolute in its mission to neutralize remnants of terrorist groups, protect civilians, and secure the region,” the statement added.
