At the ceremony, NiMet emerged as the “Best Federal MDA in Open Data Excellence”, in recognition of its outstanding commitment to data transparency, innovation, and digital transformation in public service delivery.
Professor Anosike was also decorated with the Distinguished GovTech Trailblazer’s Award, acknowledging his visionary leadership in advancing GovTech initiatives and promoting digital governance in line with the Federal Government’s digital transformation agenda.
These honours, according to observers, reaffirm NiMet’s growing reputation as a forward-thinking agency at the forefront of climate intelligence, early warning systems, and technology-driven meteorological services. Under Prof. Anosike’s leadership, the agency has intensified efforts to provide accurate, timely, and actionable data for national development, climate mitigation, and disaster preparedness.

The Nigeria GovTech Conference and Awards is a flagship initiative of the BPSR designed to catalyze digital transformation across Nigeria’s public sector. It brings together government agencies, private sector innovators, policymakers, and civil society stakeholders to celebrate excellence in digital governance, promote technology-driven reforms, and build capacity for efficient and citizen-focused service delivery.
Among other notable award recipients were Malam Umar A. Namadi, Executive Governor of Jigawa State, and Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Executive Governor of Adamawa State, among several distinguished personalities recognized for their contributions to digital governance and reform in Nigeria.
