Abuja, August 14, 2025 The Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PC-CNG) has donated a brand-new CNG-powered bus to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), reinforcing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to building a cleaner, safer, and more efficient transport system in Nigeria.
The handover ceremony took place at the FRSC National Headquarters in Abuja, where PC-CNG Programme Director, Engr. Michael Oluwagbemi, officially presented the eco-friendly vehicle to the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, mni.
Oluwagbemi described the donation as a milestone in the federal government’s plan to modernise Nigeria’s transport sector, curb greenhouse gas emissions, and accelerate the adoption of sustainable mobility solutions.
“This handover is more than the provision of a bus; it is a practical demonstration of our commitment to transitioning Nigeria towards clean energy transportation. The FRSC, as a leading agency in road safety and traffic management, can now lead by example in championing CNG technology,” he said.
In his response, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed expressed deep appreciation to PC-CNG, assuring that the bus would be fully utilised to enhance FRSC’s operational efficiency.
“This CNG-powered bus will strengthen our enforcement, public education, and rescue operations while promoting the government’s low-carbon transport policy,” he stated.
The new bus is expected to reduce fuel costs, cut harmful emissions, and set an example for other government agencies to embrace environmentally friendly transport solutions.
Analysts say the collaboration between PC-CNG and FRSC reflects the Tinubu administration’s drive for an energy transition that balances economic growth with environmental sustainability a step seen as crucial in achieving Nigeria’s net-zero emission targets and spurring broader investments in clean transportation nationwide.
