The southern states are expected to experience cloudy weather with intervals of sunshine, along with isolated thunderstorms in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, and Bayelsa States during the morning. In the North Central, thunderstorms are anticipated in the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Benue, Kogi, Niger, and Nasarawa States later in the day. Southern states such as Bayelsa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers may see morning thunderstorms, followed by more storms across the region by afternoon.
On Thursday, sunny skies with some clouds are expected over the north, while the North Central region will see a mix of sunshine and afternoon thunderstorms in the Federal Capital Territory and neighboring states. The southern states will experience cloudy weather with a chance of morning thunderstorms in Delta and Bayelsa, and further storms later across Osun, Ekiti, Lagos, and others.
NiMet has advised Nigerians to take necessary precautions, especially those with respiratory conditions, due to the presence of dust in the atmosphere.
“Strong winds may precede the rains, so it’s important to secure loose items and avoid driving during heavy downpours. Remember to unplug electrical appliances and stay away from tall trees to prevent injuries from falling branches. Airline operators are advised to monitor weather updates for their specific routes to ensure safe flight operations,” the agency stated.
