We, the Coalition of Nigerian Patriots, address you today with a deep sense of urgency and sorrow regarding the escalating wave of brutal killings across Plateau, Benue, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Kogi, Kwara, and parts of the North West. These attacks have devastated lives, destroyed property, and shattered communities.
It is with great concern that we observe attempts by some federal officials to downplay the gravity of these atrocities. Statements such as those by Bayo Onanuga, who termed the killings as “tit for tat,” and Daniel Bwala, who trivialized the role of governors by alleging misuse of security votes, demonstrate an alarming lack of empathy and a gross misrepresentation of the reality on the ground. Let it be clear: innocent Nigerians are being massacred in their homes — not combatants on a battlefield.
Even more distressing is a viral video where a self-acclaimed Fulani coalition brazenly admitted responsibility for these attacks and issued conditions to the Federal Government. This raises urgent questions: Who are their sponsors? Are they being shielded by individuals within the corridors of power? Under whose protection are they operating? We demand that those who have publicly confessed to these crimes be swiftly arrested and prosecuted. Their audacity not only undermines the rule of law but also encourages further acts of terror.
The attacks in Plateau communities notably Bassa, Mangu, Bokkos, and Riyom strongly suggest a systematic campaign of land grabbing and the forced displacement of indigenous populations. The subsequent influx of unidentified persons into these ravaged areas points to organized attempts at demographic re-engineering, made possible by the state’s failure to protect its citizens.
Historically, farmer-herder tensions were resolved through community dialogue and mutual understanding. Today, however, we are witnessing a new, more violent dynamic coordinated assaults aimed at seizing land, displacing indigenous communities, and erasing identities. This signals a deeper collapse in our national security architecture and criminal justice system.
We hereby call on the Federal Government to:
Launch immediate investigations to identify and prosecute all perpetrators and their sponsors;
Strengthen collaboration with state and local authorities to restore law and order;
Reaffirm its constitutional obligation to protect the lives and property of every Nigerian, regardless of ethnic or religious affiliation.
We salute the resilience and courage of the people and leadership of Plateau State in the face of relentless attacks. We urge the Federal Government to provide every necessary support to these communities to rebuild, heal, and secure a just and lasting peace.
Nigeria belongs to us all. We must not allow violence, impunity, and injustice to define our future.
