Troops of the Nigerian military’s Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 11 kidnapped persons and foiled a terrorist ambush during separate security operations in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The operations were carried out on October 30 and 31, 2026, around Ribah town and the Wasagu-Falfala general area as part of efforts to protect residents and prevent further attacks.
The Acting Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Captain Tamuno Sinivie, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, November 1.
According to Sinivie, troops of Sector 2 rescued seven kidnapped victims after responding to a distress call that suspected terrorists had blocked the Ribah-Dirindaji road and abducted several people.
The troops reportedly pursued the fleeing attackers towards Rambo village, maintaining pressure until the suspects abandoned their captives.
The seven rescued victims were subsequently reunited with their families in Ribah.

In a separate incident on October 31, troops conducting a routine patrol in the Wasagu-Falfala area came under attack from terrorists who had laid an ambush along their route.
The soldiers responded with superior firepower, forcing the attackers to flee and abandon four kidnapped victims.
The rescued persons were later handed over to the village head of Wasagu.
The military said troops remained active in the area, sustaining operations to prevent further attacks, protect residents and secure critical infrastructure.
It also urged members of the public to provide timely and credible information that could assist security agencies in ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity.
The latest operations bring renewed attention to the security challenges facing communities in Kebbi State, where residents remain vulnerable to attacks and abductions.
