The Nigerian Navy has commissioned a new healthcare facility in Abwor/Oyis, Lankan District, Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State, in a move expected to improve access to essential medical services, particularly maternal healthcare.
The facility, commissioned on October 29, 2026, was delivered under the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Special Intervention Quick Impact Project Scheme.
It comprises male and female wards, a maternity unit, a nursing station, a labour room and other supporting facilities designed to serve residents of the community.
The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, was represented at the commissioning ceremony by the Chief of Administration, Naval Headquarters, Rear Admiral Jonathan Mamman.
Speaking on behalf of the CNS, Rear Admiral Mamman said the project reflected the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to Civil-Military Cooperation and community development through interventions that address the needs of host communities.

He explained that such initiatives were aimed at strengthening relationships between the Navy and local communities while improving access to essential public services.
The Executive Chairman of Pankshin Local Government Council, in his goodwill message, welcomed the project and commended its facilitator, Rear Admiral Nan-Manle Fredrick Damtong, for contributing to the development of his community and Plateau State.
He described the healthcare facility as a landmark intervention that would benefit present and future generations, particularly through its maternity unit.
The council chairman also appreciated the Chief of the Naval Staff for selecting the community for the intervention and pledged support for the proper utilisation and sustainability of the facility.
In his remarks, Rear Admiral Damtong expressed appreciation to the CNS for supporting the project and urged residents to take ownership of the facility by ensuring its proper maintenance and effective use.

The ceremony was attended by government officials from Pankshin Local Government Area, traditional rulers, community leaders and other dignitaries.
Among those present was the District Head and Mishkom Mupun of Mupun Chiefdom, His Royal Highness Da Yusuf Walle Fwangbring.
