The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has partnered with TomorrowNow to improve access to timely and reliable weather and climate information for farmers across Nigeria.
The collaboration was highlighted during a sideline event on the third day of the Alliance for Hydromet Development Annual Meeting in Lagos, where both organisations emphasised the importance of climate information in agricultural planning and decision-making.
The initiative aims to provide farmers with clearer and more timely climate advisories to help them make informed decisions about farming activities, manage weather-related risks and strengthen agricultural productivity.
Speaking at the event, NiMet’s Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Charles Anosike, stressed the need to standardise climate information provided to stakeholders across the agricultural value chain.

Anosike said the partnership must be results-driven and deliver practical benefits to farmers, noting the importance of ensuring that climate information meets the needs of those who depend on it for agricultural planning.
In his remarks, TomorrowNow Chief Executive Officer, Brian Miranda, assured NiMet’s leadership of the organisation’s commitment to delivering climate advisory services at scale to support Nigeria’s agriculture and livestock sectors.
The partnership is expected to improve farmers’ access to actionable weather forecasts and climate guidance, enabling them to make better-informed decisions about their farming activities.
By strengthening the delivery of climate information, the collaboration also seeks to support resilience across Nigeria’s agricultural value chain, particularly as farmers navigate weather-related uncertainties.
The success of the initiative will depend on how effectively the climate advisories reach farmers and translate into practical support for agricultural production and livestock management.
