The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a two-hour power interruption in parts of Gwagwalada and adjoining areas of Abuja on Monday, October 5, 2026.
According to the company, the interruption will occur between 10:00am and 12:00pm during an urgent maintenance exercise at the Gwagwalada 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
TCN said its maintenance crew will use the exercise to connect an earthing reactor to a 60MVA, 132/33kV power transformer at the substation.

As a result, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to offtake electricity to customers in Watson Door, Gwagwalada, and adjoining areas during the two-hour maintenance period.
TCN explained that the exercise is necessary to improve the safety and operational reliability of the transmission infrastructure.
The company apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience the temporary outage may cause.
