The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has identified officers featured in a viral video alleging that a resident was extorted of ₦40,000 along the Wuye-Utako Road in Abuja.
The Command said the officers, whose actions were captured in the video, have been identified and are currently in custody pending investigation.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, was alerted to the video circulating on social media.
The alleged incident reportedly occurred near Salem Church along the Wuye-Utako Road, within the Federal Capital Territory.
The Command has also invited the complainant to appear at the FCT Police Command Headquarters in Abuja to provide an official statement that will assist the investigation and possible disciplinary proceedings.

The police said it would not tolerate extortion, abuse of authority, misconduct or other forms of unprofessional behaviour by its personnel.
The Commissioner of Police further assured residents that any officer found culpable after due investigation would face appropriate disciplinary and legal action in line with existing laws and police regulations.
The Command also urged members of the public to report cases of police misconduct and provide relevant information that could assist investigations.
It reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, professionalism and respect for the rights of residents across the Federal Capital Territory.
