EDE NORTH, Osun State — Heavy voter turnout has been recorded at Polling Unit EC 30 A in Ede North Local Government Area of Osun State as voters cast their ballots in the 2026 governorship election.

Eligible voters arrived at the polling unit in significant numbers, with long queues forming as voters waited for accreditation and voting.

The polling unit, located in the home local government of incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, has attracted attention amid the keenly contested election, in which Adeleke is seeking another term alongside 12 other candidates.

As of the time of filing this report, voters were seen waiting patiently in orderly queues, while additional voters continued to arrive to participate in the electoral process.

The atmosphere at the polling unit remained calm, with voters focused on completing the accreditation and voting procedures.

The significant turnout is particularly notable given Ede North’s political importance and the level of voter participation previously recorded in the area during governorship elections.

Ede North and neighbouring Ede South witnessed substantial voter activity during the 2022 Osun governorship election, with long queues reported at several polling units as residents turned out to exercise their franchise.

For the 2026 election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deployed the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) for voter accreditation as part of efforts to strengthen the electoral process.

At EC 30 A, a substantial number of voters remained on the queue awaiting accreditation and voting, while the steady arrival of more voters continued to swell the crowd.

The turnout points to strong voter interest in the election, particularly in an area regarded as politically significant because of its connection to the incumbent governor.

Despite the large number of voters, the polling environment remained peaceful at the time of filing the report, with voters waiting for their turns to complete the electoral process.
