The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented Certificates of Return to candidates who emerged victorious in the June 20, 2026 by-elections conducted across Rivers, Enugu, Nasarawa, Ondo and Kano states.

The certificates were presented on behalf of the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, by the Supervising National Commissioner for Rivers State, Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, during an official ceremony held by the electoral body.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Agbamuche-Mbu congratulated the winners and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by their constituents through dedicated service and effective representation.

According to her, the primary responsibility of elected officials is to represent the interests of the people and contribute meaningfully to democratic governance.

She also disclosed that Certificates of Return would soon be presented to winners of the Zuru State Constituency election in Kebbi State as well as the winner of the Ekiti State Governorship Election.

National Commissioners representing the various constituencies subsequently presented the certificates to the successful candidates, formally recognizing them as the duly elected winners of their respective elections.

The presentation of Certificates of Return marks the final stage in the electoral process, paving the way for the elected officials to assume their constitutional responsibilities.
