The Federal Government has taken another step in strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic presence abroad as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs formally presented Letters of Credence to newly appointed ambassadors and high commissioners designated to Trinidad and Tobago, Kenya, Equatorial Guinea and Egypt.

The presentation was conducted on Monday by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, following the receipt of official agrément from the host countries authorizing the diplomats to serve as Nigeria’s principal representatives.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the development forms part of the deployment process for the 69 ambassadors appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Ministry disclosed that 63 agréments have so far been received from countries where the envoys have been posted, including key diplomatic destinations such as India and South Africa.

It added that many of the affected ambassadors have already departed Nigeria and commenced their diplomatic assignments in their respective host countries.

The Ministry expressed optimism that the remaining countries yet to communicate their acceptance would do so soon, paving the way for the full deployment of Nigeria’s diplomatic representatives.

Officials noted that the postings are expected to deepen bilateral cooperation, strengthen diplomatic engagement and consolidate Nigeria’s relations with countries across Africa, the Caribbean and other regions of the world.

The statement reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to advancing Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives and enhancing the country’s global engagement through effective diplomatic representation.
