Security operatives have arrested three suspected illegal bunkerers in Delta State during a joint operation by troops of the 181 Amphibious Battalion and operatives of Tantita Security Services.
The suspects were apprehended around 5:00 a.m. on May 31 along the Ughelli–Warri Road while allegedly transporting a truck loaded with suspected illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), commonly known as diesel.
Security sources said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb crude oil theft and other forms of economic sabotage in the Niger Delta region.

Preliminary interrogation reportedly revealed that one of the suspects claimed the product was purchased from a company in Woji, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and was being transported to Edo State for delivery.
The suspects, along with the truck conveying the product, are currently in military custody as investigations continue.
Authorities said samples of the seized product would undergo laboratory analysis to determine its quality and confirm whether it originated from illegal refining activities.
They added that the outcome of the tests would guide further action, including possible prosecution of those found culpable.
Security agencies reiterated their commitment to sustained operations aimed at protecting oil and gas infrastructure across the Niger Delta, warning individuals involved in illegal bunkering to desist or face prosecution.
